Suncoast Searchlight is a nonprofit newsroom producing
investigative and explanatory journalism for Sarasota, Manatee and
DeSoto counties.
We shine a light on critical issues, strengthen accountability and give
residents the information they need to understand their community
and drive meaningful change.
ORIGINAL REPORTING
We produce independent accountability stories, explanatory journalism, and in-depth investigations
that are free for the public to read and free for other news outlets to republish.
COLLABORATIVE JOURNALISM
We partner with local print, digital, television and radio newsrooms to share resources, expand
reach and strengthen reporting.
NEWSROOM SUPPORT
We provide public records assistance, data analysis, editing and training to support local journalists
and news organizations.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
We listen to residents, elevate diverse voices and create stories, events and conversations
around the issues that matter most.
