Yes.

The Southern Poverty Law Center, along with a slew of voting rights groups, sued Gov. Ron DeSantis and other Florida officials over the drawing of a new congressional map.

The map, signed by DeSantis on May 4, gives the Florida GOP four additional House seats. It’s a response to new maps approved in California and Virginia, which gave Democrats more seats and a better chance to take the House majority during the November midterm elections.

Opponents say the new map violates the Fair Districts Amendments that voters approved to adopt in the state constitution in 2010. The amendments state that congressional districts cannot be drawn to “favor or disfavor an incumbent or political party.”

DeSantis said that the amendments voters approved are unconstitutional because of their requirements to consider race, “something that the U.S. Supreme Court has signaled is unconstitutional.”
